Leo Tolstoy used to break up his novel War and Peace into books. Independent efforts have since come about to create one book from it, which has been written by P.D. Game and published in 1969. As of today, the latest release is 'Sooryavansham'. The story is set in 1830 during the time of Indian independence struggle against British rule with the protagonist being a man named Soorya Vansham who after many twists and turns manages to overthrow British rule for India's independence, setting up borders between India-Pakistan for future generations with his daughter marrying King George IV of England. The story was translated into Hindi by R. Bhojwani and was published in two parts under the title 'Sooryavansham' (meaning independence) in the year 1977 & 1978. This movie is based on second part of the story published in book form. Many of the actors during the time of shooting of this movie had to be brought from London. To make up for this, some dialogues had to be changed and some names changed such as Lata Mangeshkar being called Shubha Mangeshkar, Hemanta Mukherjee being called Ajit Mukherjee etc. There were a large number of people from Punjab who played a part in the film industry before 1947, but after partition they moved to Pakistan and now a majority are living in USA.
